This year, we had the privilege of being invited to the Santapan Mekong Ramadan Buffet at Tamarind Springs, a hidden gem nestled in the lush greenery of Kuala Lumpur. The experience was nothing short of extraordinary, blending exquisite cuisine, serene ambiance, and warm hospitality into an unforgettable evening.
Tamarind Springs is more than just a restaurant; it is an oasis of tranquility. Located amidst lush tropical gardens, the venue exudes a sense of calm and serenity – we could even see monkeys amidst the lush greeneries. As the sun set, the ambiance at Tamarind Springs became even more magical. The soft glow of candles and the warm hospitality of the staff added to the sense of community and togetherness that Ramadan embodies.
The Santapan Mekong buffet is a culinary journey through the
vibrant cultures and flavors of the Mekong region, which includes countries
like Cambodia, Laos and Thailand. Each dish was a testament to the diversity
and richness of these cuisines, offering a harmonious blend of sweet, sour,
spicy, and savory flavors.
There were a wide range of options such green curry, tom
yum, braised duck, seabass, lobster, yam rolls, pad thai, glass noodles, fried
rice, prawns with pineapple, grilled banana, fried potato balls, sticky rice with
mango, sago honeydew and many more. The
food were marinated in a delicate mix of herbs and spices, and cooked to
perfection. The dishes were celebration of simplicity and authenticity,
showcasing the natural flavors of the ingredients. The buffet featured live cooking stations
where skilled chefs prepared grilled items such as lamb, prawn, corn,
mushrooms, ladies fingers, right before our eyes, adding an interactive element
to the dining experience. We enjoyed the
thai iced tea and sirap bandung.
